Professor
Nicholas Negroponte is the founder and chairman One Laptop per
Child, a nonprofit association dedicated to developing a $100 laptop—a
technology that could revolutionize how we educate the world’s
children. Professor Negroponte has been a member of the MIT faculty
since 1966, was the co-founder and former director of the MIT Media
Lab, and was the Jerome B. Wiesner Professor of Media Technology.
A pioneer in the field of computer-aided design, he is also the
author of the best-selling book Being Digital, which has been translated
into more than 40 languages. In the private sector, Nicholas serves
on the board of directors for Motorola, is a general partner in
a venture capital firm specializing in digital technologies for
information and entertainment, and is a member of the Special Committee
of News Corporation. He has provided startup funds for more than
40 companies, including Wired magazine. |
